So you’re interested in helping promote MDD in your neighborhood in exchange for sweet freebies like free tickets to shows in your area, exclusive merchandise, direct interaction with the band and its fans, and most importantly, a deep and gratifying sense of accomplishment that your actions are directly contributing to the growth and success of band that you love so dearly!

 

Many thanks! — it’s your help that makes anything possible for us.  We can’t thank you enough.  As you’ll soon see, being on the street team can mean many different things, and in addition to getting free stuff, it’s also a great way to build relationships with friends, fellow music fans, and us!   

 

Below is the MDD list of suggested promotional tools.  We’ve updated our tool kit so you will no longer be needing a decoder ring, but read on before this message self-destructs…

 

TOOLKIT

1. WORD OF MOUTH

• Tell your peeps!! Then ell your peeps some more!!! This is probably one of the simplest and most effective methods. let your friends, family, peers, teachers, co-workers, hair-stylist, post-man/woman, garbage collector, dentist, candy-man, dog-walker, cat sitter, and lizard bather know about the show! 
• Tel the bartender, manager, promoter, etc. at your favorite local club that they need to to find us and have us play there!  If you also tell us that you told this person, we will get in touch and pursue a gig there on our end!
• If there’s a reason to celebrate with your friends, bring the party to MDD (e.g. if it’s your friend’s birthday party, let us know and we’ll figure out how to make it an extra-special show!)!  Making a party out of an MDD show is a very easy thing to do and we are ready to help make it happen in any way we can!
• If there isn’t a reason to celebrate, create one and bring your peeps!! 

 

2. INTERNETS

• Send an invite or message to your friends on Myspace, Facebook, Friendster, or any other site (Crabster?)
• Send out emails to your peeps telling them about the MDD show.  
• Create a Facebook event or check to see if one has already been created
• Embed an MDD track or video to your profile page/s.  This can be done easily with youtube.  Simply find the embed code from the video you want to embed (this is usually in the menu on the right for the video which tells you where it is from and what it is about) and paste it into your profile, blog, livejournal, or website!
• Show people your favorite MDD links (like Myspace or Youtube) or send the links out in an email/message/etc
• Blogs are a great way to spread the word. You can post or comment on a your own personal blog or tell your blogging buddies about MDD
• Make an imix on iTunes and put MDD in there!  What is an iMix you say?! For information on this visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ITunes#iMix

 

3. MEDIA (we can send you mp3s and/or flyers – just let us know!)

• Post an MDD E-flyer on your profile
• List MDD under your favorite music on your Myspace/Facebook/Last FM/etc profiles
• Burn CDs of your selected MDD tracks and give them to your loved ones (Just don’t burn the whole cd!)
• Include MDD tracks on mixes for your crushes

 

FREE CD + T-SHIRT  CATEGORY

**because we know that handing out things/flyering takes up more time and energy, if you choose any option below, we’ll give you a free CD + MDD t-shirt  at the next gig**

 

• Pass out handbills promotional CDs of your favorite MDD tunes.  Simply burn a track or two, write the show info on the case/cd/or insert, and you’ve got a CD flyer! If you don’t feel like burning them yourself, we usually have some promo discs on hand that we would be happy to send to you! 
  • *Passing out promo discs and handbills is usually most effective when they’re passed out at similar shows leading up to the gig.  For example, if Daft Punk plays the week before us, that’s a perfect time to hit the people coming out of the show (hopefully you’re one of them!).*

• Put up flyers around town and in your favorite (and willing) stores.  Just grab a roll of tape and bag a flyers and you’re ready to rock.  Think about the places you’ve noticed flyers before, spots near the club, cafes where fun-loving people hang out, music stores that you like, etc.

 

 

4. YOU TELL US!!!

• If you think of anything, please let us know!  While their might be a lot information on here, there are no rules or limits with this – in other words, the more creative you can be the better!  Use your talents! Who knows, maybe they’ll end up in the MDD show!
