Thanks to everyone for making 2009 a monumental year for My Dear Disco!  It was absolutely 100% full-throttle non-stop adventure.  Touring from Alaska to Austin, Portland to Boston — we saw what an amazing variety of landscape this country offers. Taking on blizzards in Nebraska, grease spills in Colorado, sneaking 8 people into 1 hotel room each night, broken transmissions, canned soup, blown over tents . . . life never settled for predictability.  Here’s a little photo collage we put together to give you guys a taste of what our year was like.

Hey Everybody,

Just a quick note to let you know that the venue for our upcoming Brooklyn show has changed from Public Assembly to Bar Matchless

Sorry for the confusion this may cause but it had to happen.  WERE STILL EXCITED TO SEE YOU THERE THOUGH!

See you soon.

MDD

Well Planet Earth, as I am sure you all already know (probably the martians too; at least the ones who watch network television), today is a big day for My Dear Disco and the world, yes: My Dear Disco is actually literally unbelievably officially famous (as determined by the Universal Association of International Fame Board).

.

Ever since our song “My Dear Disco” was used in a promotional commercial for Melrose Place’s Episode 9 (Season One of the new Melrose Place apparently), everything has changed for us.  The grass is greener, the sky is bluer, and we have a much greater appreciation for the potential drama inherent in our music.

.

I know, I know what your probably thinking: “What in the world must their families think now that these boys and lady are famous?!”

.

Well here is what they think:

Exhibit 1:

Did they have the rights to use this song?  If not you have a very clear and good case for copyright infringement.  Did I ever tell the story about this dude from my highschool whose song was illegally used in a Chryster commercial?  He went to the bank on that one.  But I guess its also flattering, right?
Peace.

[Brother]

.

Exhibit 2:

dude that’s f***ing sweet! holy s***! You should get a sweet ass royalty check for that. not that thats what you’re all about but it has to be said. mom and dad MIGHT come to [city] to see a sweet political comedy on sunday with me. you and your better half are invited. awesome bro, i’m so proud of you guys. Love [brother].

.

Exhibit 3:

--it’s so awesome.  do you see that someone {from the youtube comments} wants to know what the song is?  please write back to them…love, mom and dad--we are so proud of all of you!!!  your big break!!!!!

.

Exhibit 4:

-- this is awesome!! How totally cool. It must feel very surreal. I can’t wait to hear about how they picked you guys up. Did you get paid for this? How does it work?

Keep me posted and we can’t wait to see you in Dec.

As more responses roll I’ll keep you updated.  Exciting times these days…

The Mustache was Rad (dedededed)!

Hey Hey Hey,

.

After about month of hardwork, we’ve finished up a new remix of “Mustaches” by one of our favorite artist’s (and booking agency rostermate) That 1 Guy! We tried to stay true to the zany spirit of the original, and we let ourselves have a lot of fun with this one.  Highlights to check out: Bob brings the heavy funk of cut-up magic pipe, Michelle Masquarades as a chorus of school children, Tyler tells all to “take a mustache ride”.

.

It is our pleasure to present it to you as a free download in hi-res mp3 format with artwork inlcuded!

.

Ctrl-Click (Cmd-click on a mac) the link below and select “Save files as…” to download the remix to your hard drive or cycle through to player at the top of the screen to stream it while you check out dancethink.com.

Our episode of Fearless Music was delayed one week due to the playoffs, so now we will be featured THIS Saturday (Oct. 24th).  The post below has all the details –

My Dear Disco is going to be featured on the Fox Network show “Fearless Music TV” this Saturday!!  The show airs weekly at 12:30am on Fox 5 in NYC, or if you’re not in NYC, make sure to check out thetime and channel listing at the Fearless Music website to find out when and where else it airs:

http://www.fearlessmusic.com/channels/

Also, before and after the episode airs, be sure to go to the Fearless Music website (www.fearlessmusic.com) and cast your vote for MDD!  The band that receives the highest amount of votes will be featured again on next week’s episode.
We went to NYC to tape this performance in August, and have since become big fans of the folks at Fearless Music as people and amazing supporters of independent music.  The show is recorded at Crash Mansion, a swank underground club in Manhatten.  They use it as a studio to record the show in it during the day, and use it as a legit venue at night, which gives it a really cool vibe (for both settings).  Let us know what you think of the show!

We had a great time playing for such an amazing audience in Chi-town.  A very NICE time.

Here’s a NICE picture of the show:

Yay-yuh.  It happened.  I imagine that by now you have completely worn out your little free mp3 downloads of my latest mix, The Summer ReMixTape.  You know, these mp3s have a life span, and I hope that you have been caring after them diligently.

-

So I decided it was time to update the world on the tracks I have been diggin on and playing out.  Actually, this little mix was a lot of fun to put together and make and it has been on play consistently since I finished it. These have been some massively inspirational tunes for me lately in the production work that I have been working on.

-

Also, we got some Body Rock gigs coming up in Ann Arbor: October 23rd at Cavern Club wsg/Seek Selecta (Aaron Gold).  Hopefully another one at Ashley’s Underground.  That’s in the works, so more to come on that.

Check out bodyrockmusic.com to stay current!

Body Rock is now happening on facebook and MySpace!  Check it out, become a friend etc.  It’s another good way to keep up to date on current Body Rock affairs.

Both llama and small child hungrily mistook the football for MC's corner. Don't worry excited llama and small chid - there is a new MC's corner for you to share!

NEWS
Have you heard of Bodyrock?  He’s this crazy DJ.  At his last show, peeps got naked.  I started listening to his latest mix and my socks started to sneak off my feet.  Bodyrock’s got some serious chops.  Seriously, he’s got facial hair, and mad DJ skills to boot.  Check him out.

VIDEO

BT tweeted about this guy/these guys.  It’s kind of creepy that one guy is singing all the parts and swaying all over the stage, but that’s also what makes this so impressive.  Ok, around 3:00, this dude sounds just like MJ.  Crazy.

MUSIC
High Places -- “From Stardust to Sentience”

(recommended by Sabina Sciubba of the Brazilian Girls in a strange interview with the Bostonist)

Sabina Sciubba -- “So Close and Yet So Far”

Jeff Beck ft. Imogen Heap -- “Rollin’ and Tumblin’”
(I couldn’t find a link for you guys, but check it out on iTunes)

Sara Bareilles -- “Gravity”
(I first heard this song while watching Fox’s best of So You Think You Can Dance.  Mia Michaels’s choreography is heartbreakingly beautiful.  I can’t tell if this song would have moved me as much without having seen Mia Michaels’s dance about addiction. Thoughts?  )

omg, I got chills just watching it start up again. I wish there was some way to turn off the psycho screaming crowd.  Oh Fox).

Mute Math -- “The Nerve”

TOYS
Here is a relaxing online musical toy my friend sent me.  It’s called the Tone Matrix.  OOOOoooh.

Our recent performance at moe.down marked the last performance with our band-mate and long-time friend Joey (aka Yosef) Dosik before he moves to California. It has been truly inspiring and very fortunate for us to have spent the last 3 years being so close with such a brilliant musician — he has very much to give to the world and we wish him the very best.

Though this ends our ability to play music with Joey on a regular basis, you’ll still here his talents and contributions on upcoming MDD recordings, and make sure you keep up with Yosoul — Joey’s amazing soul project!

So, what’s the next phase? For the last year, we’ve been touring practically non-stop. The road has been great to us, and we’ve come to love the excitement and unpredictability it offers. Now we’re back in Ann Arbor after our 6-week long end-of-summer tour, and this fall we’re taking time to write new material, record an EP, make a music video, and take our live show to new heights. Of course we’ll still be performing regularly, but considerably less than before so that we can give you a bunch of slamming new material and a show that will make your hair stand on end! Stay tuned as we keep you informed in the process, it’s a very exciting us to take the next step!
